Red Chair Story
Who said furniture can’t be fun? Well, probably adults trying to keep their kids from jumping on the bed but we’re not those adults. (Our official position is we don’t encourage it but we don’t tattle on bed-jumpers, either.)
We have a red leather tub chair that has become the unofficial mascot of TwoTom. It probably won’t become as famous as that comfy green chair used in those bank commercials, but we don’t care. (We’re not a bank.)
Shireen was walking through a furniture show in November 2019, when the idea of using the red chair for the annual family Christmas picture suddenly popped into her head. But not the stereotypical shot in front of the fireplace. Instead, the Enns family loaded it into their truck and went for a drive until they found the ideal location – a set of railway tracks in the town of Birds Hill, Manitoba. They walked about 50 metres down the tracks until they came across an abandoned old shed. Perfect.
So, they took their pictures in the red chair outside with a few inches of snow on the ground. You know, just like everybody else’s Christmas picture. But that was just the beginning. Now Tom and Shireen take the red chair with them to every trade show they go to. And once they tell their story about the railway tracks and old shed, other people want to sit in it for a picture, too. Sometimes, they’ll tell them about a crazy picture they’ve taken or, if Tom and Shireen are lucky, they’ll show it to them. So, if you see the red chair or Tom or Shireen – or all three, for that matter – come get a picture taken in it and we’ll post it on our website. Pets and garden gnomes are welcome, too.
